Choice Points for a Theory of Normality

چکیده
Abstract A variety of recent work in epistemology employs a notion normality to provide novel theories knowledge or justification. While such are commonly advertised as affording particularly strong epistemic logics, they often make substantive assumptions about the background and its logic. This article takes normality-based defences KK principle case study submit scrutiny. After clarifying issues regarding natural language use claims, isolates number choice points role contingency, context-sensitivity similarity our theorizing with normality. It turns out that both weaker stronger logics can be motivated depending on how choices resolved. And yet securing enough for play envisaged may have unwelcome downstream consequences resultant

Rational Choice Theory: A Cultural Reconsideration
Economists have heralded the formulation of the expected utility theorem as a universal method of choice under uncertainty. In their seminal paper, Stigler and Becker (Stigler & Becker, 1977) declared that “human behavior can be explained by a generalized calculus of utility-maximizing behavior” (p.76). The universality of the rational choice theory has been widely criticized by psychologists, ...

It seems easy to accept that rationality involves many features that cannot be summarized in terms of some straightforward formula, such as binary consistency. However, this recognition does not immediately lead to alternative characterizations that might be regarded as satisfactory, even though the inadequacies of the traditional assumptions of rational behavior standard used in economic theo...

متن کاملinvestigating the feasibility of a proposed model for geometric design of deployable arch structures
deployable scissor type structures are composed of the so-called scissor-like elements (sles), which are connected to each other at an intermediate point through a pivotal connection and allow them to be folded into a compact bundle for storage or transport. several sles are connected to each other in order to form units with regular polygonal plan views. the sides and radii of the polygons are...
